Fun Rowing - Ready for Crews

Weather:
We are not masochists and our rowing is totally dependent on weather conditions. Please do not assume we will go each week! If it is dull, cold and/or windy - or all three! - we will NOT go out.

ICE form:
Please bring your u3a emergency contact form.

Parking:
During the Spring and Autumn sessions we row during the forenoons and can get caught for parking fees! Many rowers use the Town Council/Feofees Car Park opposite Travis Perkins. Charges are applied between 8am and 6pm. Check the rules before you go!

Organisation & Membership

Numbers:
Attendance at TS Brave is now back to normal and all interested parties are welcome to make contact via the ‘BIRD’ but may have to go on a waiting list.

Our Boats

We have 2 whalers available -maximum 5 crew each - plus we are able to use some of the Canadian Canoes.

Have a look at the diagram of the Trinity 500, that's the boat we use - and it is the modern version of the traditional naval "whaler".

Experience and Fitness:
NO previous experience is required and NO great level of fitness is needed either - though you do need to be reasonably agile to climb down into the boats, using short ladders and then to maintain your balance on board.

We hope we can cope with anything, so long as YOU are able to give it a go; can count up to FOUR; and bring your sense of humour.

What do we get up to?
See below for occasional reports and photos of our current activities.

Safety

Our Rowing Group is not a dangerous activity, but please read the notes in the sidebar, so that you are aware of (A) the potential hazards that do exist, and (B) our plans to minimise them.

We need YOU to help US to keep EVERYONE safe.

THE LATEST NEWS FROM YOUR CONVENORS

Message from Convenor Sally

July 2023

The season is in full swing, and we get out on the river most weeks, weather permitting! We are using the 2 whalers and sometimes a canoe if the numbers require it. Thanks as ever to the Sea Cadets for use of their equipment. We’ve enjoyed views of otters, kingfishers and plenty of dragonflies….all good excuses to stop and have a breather!

First Canoe for 3 years

PS Remember, you just need to "click" on a photo to see it full size, and then you can use the Left and Right to step through the "Gallery".
